I’m giving Chloe a bubble bath after a long exhausting day, and we start chatting…
Me: “So, what would you like to be when you grow up?”
Me: “A doctor, an astronaut, a teacher or a scientist… which job would you choose?”
Chloe: “I want to be you, Mommy”.
A speechless me reaches into the bathtub and hugs Chloe with bubbles, tears and all.
There are many ways to say “I love you”, and that was probably the best of them.
It was one of those days where I couldn’t wait to put her to bed and just wind down and relax after a long day out, and miraculously all the fatigue disappeared…
I was so touched; my little girl just acknowledged that being a Mom is a job.
The feminist in me started thinking: “Hey! Being a mom is not all we do in this world as women”, but the proud mom in me shushed her and replaced that thought with: “Just enjoy being looked up to, you’ll get plenty of chances to teach Chloe how to be an active member of society later on”.
So naturally, I let the proud mom win this argument, and with Mother’s Day coming up in a few days, I couldn’t wish for a better gift from my Chloe.
Happy Mother’s Day!
